Job Summary:

Subject to the direction of the General Counsel, responsible for the oversight of legal matters within assigned area, function or region. Coordinates the legal representation respecting certain needs of the organization and serves as a legal advisor to senior management.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provides legal counsel and advice on all aspects incident to the business operations and corporate requirements of the organization. 
  • Participates in the development of corporate policies, procedures, and programs and provides continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters.
  • Selects, retains, manages and evaluates all outside counsel.
  • Helps develop effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws.  
  • Provides advice and counsel to a diverse group of internal clients on regulatory, compliance and other legal matters. 
  • Responsible for adherence to the applicable budget.  
  • May directly manage attorneys and others to include assigning work, coaching, developing and conducting performance reviews, imposing disciplinary action if needed, and performing all other related employee management duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and member in good standing of a state bar association


Experience

  • Seven years of relevant legal experience, with two years demonstrated leadership experience

Required Professional License and/or Certifications     

  • Attorney (MO) - Missouri Bar Association
