Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who uses our job board. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information when you use Jobs-In-Legal.com.

Jobs-In-Legal.com is operated by Found Legal Ltd (Company No. 11572035) with registered offices at 71–75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom, which is the data controller for the personal information collected through the website.

Jobs-In-Legal.com does not collect, receive or store job applications, CVs or cover letters submitted for vacancies advertised on the website. When you apply for a vacancy, you are redirected to the employer's website or application system. Any personal information you submit as part of your application is processed by the employer (or its recruitment provider) in accordance with its own privacy notice.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your privacy rights, please contact us at info@jobs-in-legal.com

Job Applications

Jobs-In-Legal.com advertises legal vacancies but does not process job applications submitted through employers' application processes. When you apply for a vacancy, your application is submitted directly to the relevant employer or its recruitment provider, who is responsible for processing your personal information. We encourage you to review the employer's privacy notice before submitting your application.

Personal Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Jobs-In-Legal.com, we may collect your name, email address, account and communication preferences, employer account and billing information (if you are an employer advertising vacancies), job advertisement content, correspondence with us, and technical information such as your IP address, browser, device information and website usage.

How We Collect Personal Information

We collect personal information when you create an account, subscribe to job alerts or newsletters, advertise vacancies, contact us or otherwise use the website. We also collect technical information automatically through cookies and similar technologies.

How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information to provide and operate Jobs-In-Legal.com, manage user and employer accounts, provide job alerts and newsletters you request, publish and manage job advertisements, process payments, respond to enquiries, maintain the security and operation of the website, improve our services, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Job Alerts and Marketing Communications

If you subscribe to receive job alerts, newsletters or other marketing communications, we will use your contact details to send them to you. You may unsubscribe or withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails, by changing your job alert preferences in your account or by contacting us at info@jobs-in-legal.com

Lawful Bases for Processing

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we process personal information only where we have a lawful basis for doing so. Depending on the circumstances, this may be because processing is necessary to perform a contract with you, comply with a legal obligation, pursue our legitimate interests where these are not overridden by your rights and freedoms, or because you have given your consent.

Sharing Personal Information

We may share personal information with service providers who help us operate Jobs-In-Legal (such as website hosting, payment processing and email service providers), our professional advisers, regulators, courts or law enforcement authorities where required by law, and a purchaser or successor if our business is sold or transferred.

Jobs-in-Legal.com is built and operated using a platform provided by Glacier Systems Pty Ltd (ABN 47 687 105 184), an Australian company who acts as a data processor on behalf of Jobs-in-Legal.com, providing the technical infrastructure for this job board. The platform's infrastructure is primarily hosted in the United States via Amazon Web Services and Railway. A full list of the platform's sub-processors is available at jobboardly.com/sub-processors.

International Transfers

Jobs-in-legal.com operates using Job Boardly’s platform, which is headquartered in Australia and hosts data primarily in the United States. If you are located in the EEA or UK, your personal data will be transferred outside your jurisdiction. These transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) adopted by the European Commission under Decision 2021/914. For UK users, transfers are protected by the International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) issued by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, or by SCCs supplemented by the UK Addendum, as applicable.

Some of the technical service providers we use to operate Jobs-In-Legal.com may operate internationally or use infrastructure located outside the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. As a result, personal information may be transferred to, or processed in, other countries as part of providing our services. Where applicable, such transfers are made using transfer mechanisms recognised under applicable data protection law.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for the following periods:

Data type Retention period
Job seeker profile and application data 12 months from last activity, or until you delete your account
Employer and recruiter account and listing data 12 months from last activity, or until you delete your account
Billing records 7 years (as required by applicable tax law)

Dormant account notification: Before deleting any account under this retention schedule, we will send a warning email to your registered email address notifying you that your account is scheduled for deletion. If you log in within 30 days of that notification, your account will be retained and the retention period will reset. “Activity” means any login, profile update, job application, job posting, or other action taken through your account.

After the applicable retention period, your data is securely deleted or anonymised. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at info@jobs-in-legal.com.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar storage technologies on Jobs-in-Legal.com to operate the site and, depending on what we have chosen to enable, to support analytics or advertising.

The cookies that may be set fall into the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the site to work (keeping you logged in, security tokens, load balancing, bot protection, and the cookie that remembers your consent choice). These are always on.
  • Functional — non-essential preferences that improve your experience (for example, your language preference). Set only when you actively choose them.
  • Analytics — help us understand how people use the site (for example, Google Analytics or similar tools). These are only present if we, as the operator of Jobs-in-Legal.com, have chosen to integrate them. They are gated behind your consent.
  • Marketing — advertising and tracking pixels (for example, Meta Pixel or LinkedIn Insight Tag). These are only present if we, as the operator of Jobs-in-Legal.com, have chosen to integrate them. They are gated behind your consent.

Our cookie banner

When you first visit, you will see a cookie banner. What it shows depends on where you are visiting from:

  • EU, EEA, UK, Switzerland, Brazil, and Quebec: the banner asks you to opt in. You can choose Accept all, Reject all, or Customise — these options are presented with equal prominence. No cookies beyond strictly necessary are set until you make a choice. Closing the banner is not treated as consent.
  • California, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and Montana: you can opt out of any non-essential cookies and exercise your right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information.
  • Everywhere else: a brief notice on first visit.

Global Privacy Control

We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal automatically. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a refusal of all non-essential cookies and as an opt-out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, without you needing to interact with the banner.

You can change your choice at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.

When you make a choice, we keep a short record (held on our behalf by Job Boardly, our platform provider) so we can demonstrate that we asked for and obtained (or did not obtain) your consent in line with applicable law. The record contains a pseudonymous ID, a timestamp, your truncated IP address, your browser user-agent string, the version of the banner you saw, and the choice you made. We retain consent records for up to 24 months from the date of the choice.

Your Privacy Rights

You may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, object to our processing, receive certain personal information in a portable format, and withdraw your consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise your rights, please contact us at info@jobs-in-legal.com. We may ask you to verify your identity before responding to your request.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. If you are in the United Kingdom, the supervisory authority is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). If you are in the European Economic Area, you may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in your country.

Security

We take the security of your personal data seriously. Job Boardly, as our platform provider, implements industry-standard security measures including encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security monitoring. However, no system is completely secure — we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your login details safe.

Updates

We may update this Privacy Notice from time-to-time by posting a new version on our website. You should check this page occasionally to ensure you are happy with any changes. Where changes are material we may also notify you of such changes by email.
