Oliver Wyman is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join our Legal team in Paris

Please Note: Oliver Wyman/MMC operates a hybrid working policy and we will require the successful candidate to work from our Paris office at least 60% of the time.

About the role:

As Assistant General Counsel for France, you will be part of a first class, experienced global in-house legal team dedicated to the management and economic consulting businesses of Oliver Wyman Group (“OWG”).

This role is an ideal in-house role for a mid-level to senior-level corporate/commercial lawyer with at least 5 years post-qualification experience.

The Assistant General Counsel will work closely with the EMEA legal team to handle legal matters for the EMEA region, with a focus on France. and will report directly to the Chief Counsel, Continental Europe.

Specifically, you’ll be:

  • Providing corporate advice and support on a wide range of legal issues and projects to the OWG businesses across EMEA

  • Handling the reviewing, drafting and negotiation of a variety of commercial contracts and other legal documents related to OWG’s global professional services businesses, including OWG-form engagement letters and contracts, client form agreements, subcontracts, third party release/reliance letters etc.

  • Advising OWG consultants and corporate support functions on legal issues generally, including the legal/contractual implications of commercial business decisions (i.e.., business/legal counselling and common sense advising).

  • Identifying liability exposure and provide creative solutions to manage and reduce risk.

  • Coordinating specialty legal review by internal and external legal advisers on a range of matters

  • Assisting with all matters related to legal support of the OWG businesses, including compliance and risk mitigation processes 

Who we are looking for…

  • You’ll be a French qualified lawyer, with at least 5 year’s post qualification experience – we’re happy to consider individuals in private legal practice who are now looking for their first move to an in-house role

  • Fluency in French and English is required

  • You’ll have proven experience with commercial contract review, drafting and negotiation

  • Transactional and corporate finance experience is preferred

  • Strong communication and drafting skills are essential, as well as the ability to interface with senior management; you must exercise good judgment and be commercially minded
