Pivotal Health is the leading technology platform that helps healthcare providers get paid fairly in an increasingly complex reimbursement landscape.
Today, many providers face persistent underpayment from health insurance companies, despite delivering high-quality care. While processes like IDR (Independent Dispute Resolution) were designed to promote fairness, they’re often administrative-heavy, time-consuming, and difficult to navigate without the right tools.
Pivotal Health combines software, data, and service into a seamlessly integrated, AI-driven platform that simplifies these complex reimbursement workflows. We help providers efficiently dispute underpaid claims, reduce administrative burden, and recover the reimbursement they’re entitled to; without adding more work to already stretched teams.
Our full-service IDR solution is just the starting point. We’re building solutions that enable providers to operate with clarity, control, and confidence across the reimbursement journey.
We’re looking for an Associate General Counsel to join Pivotal as a key member of our legal function and serve as the first legal partner to our General Counsel.
This role sits at the center of the business. You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Leadership to help us navigate the intersection of healthcare regulation and modern technology. From negotiating commercial agreements to shaping how compliance is built into our platform, you’ll play a direct role in helping the company scale responsibly.
This is an ideal role for a lawyer coming from a top law firm or healthcare-focused practice who wants to make the move in-house and operate closer to the business. You’ll gain broad exposure across contracting, compliance, product counseling, and company operations while helping build the legal foundation of a fast-growing company.
Success in this role means helping the business move quickly while managing risk thoughtfully, translating complex regulatory requirements into practical guidance that allows teams to build and operate with confidence.
Partner with Product and Engineering on regulatory strategy: Advise teams on healthcare regulatory requirements including HIPAA/HITECH and the No Surprises Act, helping translate legal requirements into practical product and operational decisions.
Lead commercial contracting: Draft and negotiate key commercial agreements including MSAs, BAAs, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements while helping build scalable contract templates and playbooks.
Own the day-to-day contracting process: Establish clear review workflows and service levels that allow the business to move quickly while maintaining strong legal protections.
Help build the company’s compliance foundation: Support the development of policies, procedures, and monitoring practices as we establish and scale our compliance program.
Advise internal teams on operational risk: Partner with Operations and leadership to evaluate legal risks and help the company make informed, practical decisions.
Support corporate governance and company operations: Work with the General Counsel on board materials, corporate filings, investor reporting, and other governance matters.
Provide guidance on employment and internal matters: Support HR and leadership on employee-related legal questions, policies, and best practices as the company grows.
Help scale the legal function: Contribute to building legal processes, documentation, and tools that allow the legal function to operate efficiently as the company expands.

Broad exposure early in your in-house career: You’ll work across contracting, product counseling, compliance, governance, and operations while partnering directly with the company’s General Counsel.
A front-row seat to how a startup operates: You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations, helping translate legal requirements into real business decisions.
Real influence on how the company scales: Your guidance will shape how we structure partnerships, manage regulatory risk, and build compliant technology as we grow.
Build systems, not just solve tickets: You’ll help design scalable contracting, compliance, and governance processes that allow the company to move quickly while staying on the right side of regulation.
