Winland Foods is actively recruiting for an attorney who can work collaboratively with internal stakeholders supporting a variety of commercial transactions, assisting with key legal aspects of contract drafting and negotiation, and related matters. The successful candidate will be able to understand the Company’s business thoroughly and provide practical legal solutions in furtherance of corporate goals. Legal Affairs at Winland Foods is responsible for the oversight and handling of all legal matters for the company, as well as managing compliance, risk and real estate. This position will report directly to the General Counsel.

Schedule: Remote Monday and Friday; In office Tuesday to Thursday

Work Location: 2015 Spring Road Suite 400, Oak Brook, IL 60523

Salary, based on experience and other qualifications: $113k to $198k Annually with additional bonus potential

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts and ancillary agreements, including customer contracts, supplier and vendor agreements, IT and software agreements, bid documents, non-disclosure agreements, financing agreements and various other documents

  • Assist business clients with contract and other commercial disputes that may arise, working with appropriate Legal Affairs colleagues and directly with outside counsel, as needed

  • Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders in various departments, including procurement, sales, marketing and IT, on a variety of issues

  • Perform special assignments or projects, without significant supervision, as assigned by General Counsel

Skills, Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, along with J.D. from an accredited Law School and admitted to practice law in Illinois

  • Three to five years of transactional legal experience including in-house legal work

  • Substantial experience in the drafting, reviewing and negotiation of commercial contracts

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and thrive in a high based, fluid environment

  • Process oriented, team player, and ability to work independently with limited oversight

  • Good judgment, keen diplomacy, and strong interpersonal skills
