Our Pon.Bike cluster is a major player in the global bicycle industry. The portfolio includes leading bicycle brands likeSanta Cruz, OneUp, Reserve, Cervélo, Cannondale, and many more. We are searching for a Corporate Counsel for the Pon.Bike Cluster supporting the Americas region. The position can be based in Santa Cruz, CA or Aliso Viejo, CA. 

ABOUT YOU

As a key member of the Pon.Bike global legal team you will work within the Cervelo or Santa Cruz headquarters and serve a variety of Pon.Bike brands (primarily those based in North America - Cervelo, Santa Cruz, Reserve, OneUp, Mike’s Bikes, Cannondale, Schwinn/Mongoose). You will provide advice and leadership on a wide range of legal issues to support our global businesses and serve as a proactive and trusted business partner to leaders across our organization.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAY LOOK LIKE? 

  • Partner with leadership across brands to provide proactive legal guidance that balances risk with our goals

  • Manage general corporate law matters and ensure we adhere to internal controls and global company policies

  • Own the full lifecycle of complex commercial contracts, including sponsorship agreements, vendor services, and distribution deals

  • Cut through complexity and find practical solutions to emerging business hurdles

  • Build trusting relationships with teams in different fields and cultures to ensure legal objectives align with our Core Values

  • Taking full ownership of independent projects from start to finish, whether they are local to California or impact the broader Americas region

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • California bar admission

  • 4+ years of legal experience working with a US national or global law firm, focused on corporate general practice 

  • Experience in sophisticated contract drafting and negotiation, and general corporate law 

  • Ability to hone in on key issues and risks and tailor to business objectives and priorities 

  • Strong level of pragmatism, cut through, 80/20 approach to problems

  • Ability to lead projects independently, with initiative and ownership

  • Attention to detail with the ability to understand the big picture

  • Ability to communicate concisely and effectively in a business environment (avoiding legal jargon), adjusting communication style as needed to communicate with different types of people across the organization

  • Ability to build open, trusting, and honest relationships, effectively influencing a wide range of people across diverse fields, with sensitivity to different cultures, and inspiring confidence in others to take entrepreneurial risks

  • Ability to bring positive energy and instill a sense of agility and resilience in teams you participate in

  • Experience with adhering to internal controls and company policies

  • Flexibility in leading or assisting with other projects and tasks as assigned

  • Ability to travel up to 20% in the US and globally

  • Interest in cycling is a plus, but not required

SALARY RANGE: This compensation package will be dependent on experience, qualifications, industry experience and the interview with a potential range of up to $135,000 - $180,000.
