Job Duties and Responsibilities: 


Legal Leadership & Administration

  • Serve as the senior legal authority and strategic advisor to leadership and the Board on all legal matters affecting the organization
  • Oversee the legal function, including directing outside counsel relationships
  • Design and implement systematic workflows for legal request intake, triage, and routing across the organization
  • Own oversight of the legal operations infrastructure, including legal management tools, the legal mailbox, and internal escalation protocols

 

Litigation & Legal Matters Coordination

  • Serve as the organization's spokesperson on all litigation, disputes, and legal proceedings
  • Direct external litigation counsel and manage legal budgets associated with active matters
  • Serve as primary liaison to insurance carriers, managing the claims tendered to insurers, including coordinating site visits, participating in business and settlement discussions, and ensuring timely resolution
  • Maintain high-level oversight of all legal matter tracking and case management documentation
  • Deliver matter summaries, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to the leadership team and Board as needed

Compliance Support

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations across all jurisdictions in which the company operates, including country-specific terms of service requirements. Own the development and enforcement of the company's enterprise compliance program, including policies, training, and controls  
  • Lead the company's data privacy strategy and governance, including oversight of GDPR, CCPA, and EU Data Act compliance
  • Negotiate, authorize, and implement Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), vendor privacy assessments, and third-party risk frameworks



Intellectual Property Management

  • Oversee relationships with trademark and patent counsel to ensure proactive and cost-effective IP portfolio management
  • Partner with trademark and patent counsel on IP-related filings, including patent applications, assignments, and licensing agreements.
  • Maintain comprehensive IP tracking systems for renewals, lapses, deadlines, and enforcement actions

 

Contract & Document Management

  • Establish and enforce enterprise-wide governance contracts and frameworks for contract lifecycle management platforms and CRM systems, including organizational change management and cross-functional stakeholder alignment
  • Lead and oversee centralized document storage and consolidation strategy, ensuring all contracts and legal files across departments are properly captured and maintained
  • Define and uphold standards for contract folder organization, filing systems, and document retention policies to ensure efficient retrieval, audit-readiness, and regulatory compliance


Other Responsibilities

  • Lead ad-hoc legal projects, M&A due diligence, commercial negotiations, and other strategic legal initiatives as required

  

What you’ll need to succeed:

This role requires a seasoned legal executive who can balance strategic thinking with operational execution, someone who can lead a legal function independently, partner closely with the business, drive cross-functional alignment, and exercise sound and decisive judgment on complex legal and risk matters.


Minimum Requirements -

  • Experience: 10+ years of legal experience, with a minimum of 3–5 years in a senior in-house counsel or General Counsel role; prior law firm experience in a relevant practice area strongly preferred
    • D. from an accredited law school
  • Legal Expertise: Broad knowledge of corporate law, commercial contracts, intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Contract Management: Deep experience with contract lifecycle management, commercial negotiations, and enterprise document governance
  • Technology Proficiency: Working knowledge of legal management platforms, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office Suite; comfort evaluating and implementing legal technology solutions
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to advise leadership and the Board, interface with external counsel, and represent the company with external parties
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead a legal function, manage cross-functional relationships, and drive organizational change
  • Judgment & Discretion: High degree of professionalism, integrity, and ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters with sound judgment
  • Problem-Solving: Strategic thinker and self-starter with a track record of developing scalable legal processes and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment



Preferred Qualifications -

  • Prior experience as General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel in a technology, IIoT, hardware/SaaS, or industrial sector company with global operations
  • Extensive experience with intellectual property portfolio management and filing procedures
  • Knowledge of global data privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and the EU Data Act
  • Experience with product liability, and industrial safety regulations (OSHA, PHMSA, EPA),
  • Experience managing litigation, including directing outside litigation counsel and overseeing case strategy
  • Track record of building or maturing a corporate compliance program
  • Experience selecting, implementing, and scaling legal technology solutions
  • M&A and corporate transaction experience, including due diligence and deal negotiation
  • Strong background in managing outside counsel relationships and legal spend
  • Experience presenting to and advising leadership and Boards of Directors



Physical Requirements -

  • Ability to perform typical office tasks, including sitting or standing for extended periods, using a computer, communicating effectively, and occasionally lifting light items
