Role Purpose

Beonic is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel to support our global business across EMEA, the United States, and APAC. This role is a trusted business partner position, providing pragmatic, strategic, and high-quality legal advice to leaders and teams across the organisation.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a highly visible role with scope to influence business strategy, support growth initiatives, and help foster a positive, collaborative culture. The role suits a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys operating at both a strategic and hands-on level in a fast-paced, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Executive Support

  • Advise the Board, CEO, and Executive Team on legal, regulatory, and governance matters across jurisdictions.
  • Provide clear, commercially balanced guidance on legal risk to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the business and proactively advise on implications and required actions.

Corporate, Commercial & Regulatory

  • Manage legal risk across contracts, transactions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including customer agreements, professional services agreements, and supplier arrangements.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, investments, and other corporate activities, including due diligence and transaction execution.
  • Provide guidance on corporate governance, entity management, and general corporate law matters across regions.

Financial Services & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial services regulatory frameworks, including ASIC, APRA, AML/CTF, privacy, and related legislation. Referring and co-ordinating as required. 
  • Partner with compliance, risk, and audit teams to align legal oversight and strengthen governance frameworks.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and review of internal legal policies, procedures, and frameworks.
  • Advise on employment and workplace law matters, including employee relations, performance management, terminations, and immigration compliance.

Disputes & External Counsel Management

  • Oversee litigation and dispute resolution matters, including early risk assessment and strategy.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with business objectives.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • 7+ years’ post-qualification experience in private practice and/or in-house as a generalist corporate or commercial lawyer.
  • Admitted as a solicitor or barrister in an Australian jurisdiction.
  • Strong experience across corporate law, commercial contracting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise senior executives and boards on complex legal issues.
  • Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple time zones and global teams.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting businesses operating across Australia, the UK, the US, and broader APAC.
  • Experience in financial services, professional services, or regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with Australian regulatory frameworks including Corporations Act, NCCP, AML/CTF, privacy laws, and APRA/ASIC guidance.
  • Exposure to financial services reforms such as FAR, DDO, breach reporting, and post–Royal Commission expectations.
  • Experience managing external counsel and legal budgets.
