Reporting to the Group Head of Data Privacy, this position combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, acting as the first point of contact for a wide range of privacy matters. Group Privacy Lead Counsel

As Innovation, Arlo Europe and AI Privacy Lead Counsel, you will join a forward-thinking, cross-functional privacy team that plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of data governance and AI compliance across innovative product and service landscapes. Reporting to the Group Head of Data Privacy, you will work closely with the Arlo Europe & Innovation AB DPO, Group Legal Commercial & Innovation Team, Group AI Counsel and business directors—forming part of a collaborative, high-impact legal function that values agility, ownership, and strategic foresight.

The team has a strong track record of embedding privacy by design into cutting-edge technologies and navigating complex regulatory environments with confidence and clarity. Its mission is to ensure that privacy is not just a compliance requirement but a core enabler of innovation and trust. As part of this mission, the team is increasingly focused on AI governance, data ethics, and the evolving regulatory landscape, including the EU Data Act.

In this role, your impact will be felt across multiple dimensions: you will directly influence the success of new product and service launches, ensure regulatory readiness, and safeguard the integrity of data practices that underpin business growth.

Success in this role means becoming a trusted advisor and proactively identifying risks and opportunities, leading assessments for AI and data-driven initiatives, and ensuring that privacy frameworks are not only compliant but future-ready. You will be seen as a key enabler of innovation, helping the business move fast while staying aligned with global privacy expectations.

Key Responsibilities and Priorities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day privacy matters across Arlo Europe and Innovation AB entities.
  • Lead privacy assessments for new products, services, and privacy in AI systems, ensuring privacy by design is embedded from the outset.
  • Serve as the local AI Officer for Arlo Europe, collaborating on AI Act compliance and system mapping.
  • Manage operational privacy tasks including DPIAs/PIAs, ROPA entries, DSRs, incident response, and contract reviews.
  • Contribute to regulatory workstreams, including legal analysis and implementation of new data regulations such as the Data Act.

Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking privacy professional with a strong legal foundation and a passion for innovation, particularly in the context of emerging technologies and AI. They are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and thrive on translating complex regulatory requirements into practical, business-enabling solutions. This person is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on executor, capable of managing day-to-day privacy operations while also shaping the future of privacy governance across product and service innovation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Law degree with specialization or strong focus on data protection, technology law, or AI governance.
  • +5 years of proven experience in data privacy and protection, ideally within a multinational or technology-driven environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of GDPR and other relevant privacy regulations, including practical experience with DPIAs/PIAs, ROPA, DSRs, and incident management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead privacy assessments for new products and services, including those involving AI.
  • Experience advising on privacy matters in cross-border contexts and working with global stakeholders.
  • Ability to act as a first point of contact for operational privacy matters and provide clear, actionable legal advice.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts into business-friendly guidance.

Our global combined legal, compliance, privacy and regulatory advocacy and public affairs team consists of over 140 lawyers and other professionals across the organization that come from 18 countries, representing four continents, with a strong gender balance across all levels of the team, including in the Group legal management team.
