Description

What You’ll Do:

 

You will be responsible for providing legal/ compliance support to the DPO and to minimise and mitigate data protection and compliance risk across the International division of Hertz, managing the workload of the European Privacy Compliance Manager to help you, including: 

Legal advisory (EU, Australia and New Zealand):

 

  • Provide legal advice on data protection issues as required to the DPO, the Hertz International in-house legal team and the business (marketing, sales, IT, IT Security and other business teams) on data protection laws and implications for the business. 

     

    • Advise on, negotiate and draft appropriate wording in relation to data protection issues within commercial contracts and RFPs for sales, marketing and procurement (third-party vendors) for Hertz International.

 

Monitoring & Compliance

  • Working with the US privacy team and Securiti.AI to continue the roll out and adoption of the Security.AI compliance tool to support International privacy requirements. 

    • Ensure ongoing compliance with data protection requirements in Europe, UK, Australia, New Zealand, with particular focus on GDPR, including breach management, subject access requests, data impact assessments and other privacy policies and procedures. 

    • Monitor changes in applicable data protection laws across the International region, ensuring that the DPO, in-house legal team and relevant internal stakeholders are aware of changes to the laws in good time and create new and/ or revised policies, governance documentation and training materials as necessary to comply.

    • Manage teams and processes as required to ensure continuing compliance with data 

      subject rights and Subject Access Requests under GDPR and equivalent other laws.

 

Complaints, Investigations & Regulatory 

 

  • Develop, with the DPO, and maintain a good relationship with the Irish data protection regulator as the company’s ‘one stop shop’ regulator in the EU and with the UK regulator. 

     

    • Liaise with regulators in the EU as required on investigations, queries on the Hertz Data Privacy Compliance program and in response to regulatory inquiries raised from time to time.

    • Lead the company’s response to data complaints, breaches and regulatory contacts, acting as principal liaison with regulators as necessary on behalf of the DPO.

     

Privacy programme 

 

  • Devise, with the DPO, coordinate and drive the effective operation of annual Privacy Programs, with a view to ensuring that the company’s privacy framework is up to date, continuously improving and understood as necessary within the company. 

    • Devise and deliver training as required to raise the profile of data protection requirements and support compliance with privacy requirements in the International division.

    • Chair country and business unit privacy committees in the EU, setting the agenda for meetings, maintaining a record of issues and chasing identified actions. 

 

Audit 

  • Conduct periodic reviews and audit of Data Privacy practices against regulatory requirements and leading industry best practices with the aim of ensuring continuous improvement of the privacy program.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified lawyer with CIPPE/CIPM/CIPT qualifications. 

  • Experience working with a privacy compliance too, such as Securiti A.I. or Onetrust would be preferable.

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across multiple functions and locations.

  • Ability to influence and confidence working with clients and senior colleagues.

  • Flexible and adaptable; ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
