About Ocean Infinity Solutions

Ocean Infinity Solutions is part of the Ocean Infinity group, designing and delivering complex technology‑led solutions for government customers.

Solutions programmes combine advanced robotics, software, data, and maritime operations. The work is fast‑moving, technically complex, and often involves elevated regulatory, security, and delivery risk. Legal support is central to enabling Solutions to win work, manage risk, and deliver successfully.

We value action over bureaucracy, clear decision‑making, and practical judgement. The environment is dynamic and requires adaptability, resilience, and a strong focus on customer outcomes.

The role

We are seeking a highly motivated lawyer to join the Legal team with a significant focus on supporting the Solutions business.

This role involves working closely with commercial, delivery, and technical teams on bids, contracts, and live programmes, helping the business move at pace while managing risk appropriately. You will provide pragmatic legal advice across a broad range of matters, with particular emphasis on commercial, contractual, technology, regulatory, and delivery‑critical issues in complex and often ambiguous environments.

The scope of this role will evolve as the Solutions business continues to grow.

You will work as part of a lean, high-impact legal team, with exposure to senior stakeholders and strategic decision-making.

What you will do:

Commercial & Contracts:

  • Lead negotiations with customers and suppliers.
  • Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements.

Technology & Data:

  • Advise on legal considerations relating to software, enterprise technology, data and cyber security.

Regulatory & Risk:

  • Identify and manage legal and regulatory risks across jurisdictions and practice areas including but not limited to litigation/disputes, employment, intellectual property, and maritime law matters.
  • Advise on regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to government and defence-related programmes and frameworks, including security and export control.

Corporate & Strategic:

  • Lead on M&A, partnerships and joint ventures.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders across the business and external stakeholders.

Litigation & Disputes:

  • Manage disputes and claims in different jurisdictions.
  • Work with external counsel where required.

Ways of working:

  • Improve legal processes and drive use of legal technology.
  • Promote scalable, efficient legal support.
  • Provide clear, risk-based recommendations to stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making aligned with the company’s risk appetite.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, balancing legal risk with commercial and delivery objectives.

Who you are:

Experience & qualifications:

  • Qualified lawyer with 5-10 years’ experience, able to operate autonomously on complex matters while escalating appropriately.
  • Experience in a top-tier law firm and/or in-house.
  • Strong experience in commercial contracts and negotiations.
  • Experience working with complex, multi-jurisdictional matters.
  • Eligible for UK security clearance.

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused advice.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Behaviours:

  • Collaborative, low-ego approach.
  • Strong ownership and accountability.
  • Able to operate effectively in ambiguity and adapt quickly to new ideas.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Take ownership, applies critical thinking, shows initiative and works autonomously with little supervision.
  • Enthusiastic about the OI mission.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with government or defence sector clients, or in other regulated industries.
  • Understanding of security, export control, or public sector contracting frameworks.
  • Experience of intellectual property law.
