We’re looking for a Legal Counsel (12-month contract) to join our Legal, Risk and Governance team. Someone who thrives on providing trusted advice, partnering with stakeholders, and supporting sound decision-making across a complex, purpose-led organisation.

Your opportunity
You won’t just provide legal advice — you’ll help enable confident, compliant and effective decision-making across the organisation.
At the heart of this role is the delivery of high-quality, timely and solutions-focused legal advice across Anglicare, ensuring the organisation can operate with confidence and integrity.
You will provide specialist advice across various areas of law that may include commercial and corporate law ,property, building and construction matters, regulatory compliance, aged care and retirement living, while partnering closely with teams across Property, Corporate, Finance, Retirement Living, Aged Care and Housing.
As a trusted advisor, you’ll also partner with business units more broadly, providing legal guidance across a wide range of matters and supporting both strategic and operational outcomes.
With ownership, you will:
Provide high quality, timely and solutions-focused legal advice across the organisation
Deliver specialist advice across various areas of law that may include commercial and corporate law, property, building and construction matters, regulatory compliance, aged care and retirement living
Partner closely with Property, Corporate, Finance, Retirement Living, Aged Care and Housing teams
Draft and advise on contracts, agreements, policies and legal documentation
Collaborate with stakeholders to manage legal risks and deliver practical solutions
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external legal providers
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and provide proactive advice
Contribute to advocacy initiatives and organisational responses to legal developments
What you’ll bring
You’re a confident legal professional who combines strong technical expertise with sound judgement and a practical, solutions-focused mindset. You’re able to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice and build trusted relationships across the organisation.
You will also bring:
A current NSW practising certificate with tertiary qualifications in Law
1 to 5 years post-admission experience
Experience in private practice and/or in-house legal environments
Exposure to relevant areas of law such as corporate/commercial, property, construction or regulatory
Strong drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability
High levels of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail
Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a complex environment
