Your function:
As Legal Counsel, you will be expected to provide professional legal services for the region Australia and New Zealand. This role will have primary responsibility for negotiating finance agreements with customers of our vendor partners, initially in the construction, transport and industrial sectors, with a view to working with partners in other areas of the business including healthcare, technologies, and food and agriculture once more settled into the role.
The Legal Counsel will be generally expected to perform the following functions:
Negotiating and drafting of documentation in respect of local vendor agreements.
Drafting of the local legal documentation in respect of international vendor arrangements.
Negotiating and drafting of customised transactional legal documentation for non-standard transactions, including finance agreements, security agreements, priority agreements, etc.
Standardisation of local documentation and for keeping such standard documentation up to date.
Assisting collections and recoveries team on dispute resolution and insolvency.
Working closely with Credit and Compliance departments to ensure internal policy requirements are met for transactions.
Contributing to DLL Legal’s document and contract library and maintenance of the same.
As required, instruct and manage external lawyers on matters requiring external legal advice.
Your profile:
Strong drafting skills for different legal documentation including commercial cooperation agreements, finance agreements, security agreements, priority agreements, etc.
Understanding of commercial relationships and commercial driver for transactions.
Understanding of risks to the financier in a business finance contract (primarily loan, lease and hire purchase).
Be fully conversant with all relevant aspects of Australian and New Zealand contract and corporate law, in particular those relating to a finance business including the PPSA, AML/CTF, privacy and Australian Consumer Law.
Being able to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders (including sales managers, credit analysts, compliance officers, internal and external lawyers, asset managers, vendor partners etc).
Tertiary qualifications in Law, admitted to practise in an Australian state or territory.

Ability to set own agenda and manage your workload in a fast paced environment
