Job Description: Legal Counsel, Europe

Day-To-Day Role:

As Legal Counsel – Europe, you will be a member of a busy broad based Legal insurance team in London responsible for providing general legal and regulatory advice and assistance to include (but not limited to) the specific duties outlined below:

  • Underwriting, Claims & Ceded Re NDAs;
  • Policy wordings & endorsements;
  • Binding Authority Agreements & amendments;
  • Notices of assignment;
  • Lenders’ endorsements;
  • TOBAS;
  • Letters of underwriting authority;
  • Claims Handling Agreements;
  • Powers of Attorney;
  • Secondment Agreements;
  • Broker Service Agreements;
  • Marketing materials;
  • General corporate and regulatory compliance issues;
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts on change/transformational projects, especially related to regulatory/legal change programs; and
  • Other ad hoc legal support and analysis as needed.


Skills & Abilities:

  • Legal qualifications essential and must be a qualified Solicitor;
  • Proven post-qualification legal work experience in insurance/reinsurance;
  • Strong written and collaborative communication;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to work in an international, multicultural environment within financial services;
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting needs and progress matters proactively and follow through on projects to successful completion; and
  • Pro-active approach to problem-solving and good decision-making capability.
