We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our growing legal team and lead critical legal projects within Germany and into new markets. Reporting directly to our General Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our company's growth trajectory, ensuring strategic alignment of legal activities with business goals.

How this role contributes to bunch's vision

bunch’s product sits at the intersection of finance and law, and our legal team is critical to our company’s success. You will have space to build the future of our legal team. You will play a central role in ensuring our M&A, Expansion, and Partnerships strategies are successful as we scale. You will also help shape the legal bases for our products, support financing rounds, and see the A-Z of a growing fintech’s legal department.

Top responsibilities

  • Commercial & Corporate Support: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements (e.g., SaaS, vendor, NDAs, and partnerships), while assisting with general corporate matters and inter-company agreements.

  • Strategic Project Assistance: Support broader company initiatives, including market expansion and strategic partnerships, by assisting with due diligence processes, identifying legal risks, and summarizing actionable findings for the team.

  • External Counsel Coordination: Work alongside external legal advisors on specialized or multi-jurisdictional matters, helping to manage these engagements efficiently and on-budget.

  • Compliance & Risk: Assist in implementing and maintaining internal policies, aligning with AML, risk, and compliance standards as the wider bunch group scales.

  • Process Building: Contribute to building the foundation of our growing in-house legal department by developing playbooks, templates, and scalable legal processes.

  • Professional Growth: Grow alongside bunch by progressively taking on more responsibility in coordinating legal, regulatory, and risk matters across the organization's various entities.

About you

  • Completed studies in law (German Second State Exam, J.D., LL.B./LL.M. or equivalent qualification, no German-law studies required)

  • At least 2-3 years of professional experience, ideally in corporate/M&A law, preferably gained in a reputable law firm or sophisticated in-house environment

  • Experience with cross-border M&A, financing or other cross-border corporate transactions

  • Some experience leading or co-leading more complex transactions

  • Interest in taking on broader legal, operational and strategic work-streams within a start-up, interest in moving into a generalist in-house role

  • Strong contractual drafting and project management skills

  • Excellent written and spoken skills in English, along with solid German skills (no native speakers required)

  • Be self-motivated, detail-oriented, organised, and comfortable with responsibility

  • Be excited about working in a fluid, innovative, fast-paced, and creative environment and about being a part of the bunch's culture

  • If prior experience in or exposure to financial services or funds regulation, this is a plus, but not a prerequisite

Why you should join bunch

  • Take part in a network of people passionate about investment and work closely with the most interesting players in the private market

  • Work in close collaboration with our General Counsel, Strategy Team and Finance Team, without traditional hierarchies

  • Complement your legal skills with experience in operations, risk and compliance and expand your own profile

  • Benefit from working with a diverse mix of talents, unrivalled energy, and team spirit within a culture of drive and ownership
