Description
  • Provide prompt and effective legal assistance to the Legal team with specific focus on Retail Banking.

  • Prepare clear and concise legal advice and documentation.

  • To support in managing and addressing various legal queries in a timely manner and be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Independently handle routine legal queries.

  • Interact with internal customers as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on retail banking products including deposits and investments, credit cards, personal loans, mortgages, payments and money transfers, etc.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents such as facility offer letters, terms and conditions, amendments and renewal letters.

  • Support with addressing various queries from branch offices and ensure that the legal advice complies with internal Bank policies, applicable laws and regulatory requirements.

  • Review documents to establish customer’s capacity and due authority (i.e. POA, articles and by-laws, board and shareholders resolutions, commercial license, certificate of incumbency and related documents)

  • Participate in meetings and provide legal input on product development and operational strategies.

  • Monitor and interpret laws, regulations, and legal developments affecting retail banking.

  • Assist in identifying and mitigating legal risks associated with retail banking operations.

  • Support legal projects including documentation standardization and digital banking initiatives.

  • Work closely with other lawyers in the team and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

  • Maintain organized records of legal matters and documentation using internal tools (i.e. App4Legal).

  • Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, manages expectations, ensuring effective and clear communications and alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Collaborate with Business Units, Credit Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams to align legal advice with business objectives.

 

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

  • Emirati national with a Law Degree

  • Post Qualification Experience of at least 3 years 

  • Literate in various computer applications.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Arabic

  • Proficiency in legal research and document management tools

  • Proactive working attitude 

  • Team player with strong work ethic

  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support high-volume workloads and additional responsibilities.

  • Strong sense of responsibility and time management
