As EU litigation counsel, you will manage business-critical matters before national and EU courts, tribunals, and regulatory bodies. You will independently navigate highly complex disputes and regulatory challenges across the full range of Amazon's innovative and evolving products and services.

This position will report to the Legal Director, EU Litigation and advise the business and senior leadership on strategic matters, be responsible for litigation and regulatory matters across Europe, and help shape the company’s long-term strategy on highly relevant and novel issues.
The position can be located in one of our offices in either Brussels, Berlin, Luxembourg, Milan, Munich, London or Paris.
Key job responsibilities
- Drive Amazon’s most critical private litigation matters across Europe in national and EU courts;
- Advise the business and legal colleagues on concurrent litigation and related regulatory challenges across various member states and across all Amazon’s businesses while partnering closely with local legal teams;
- Help shape the company’s long-term strategy on high impact and often novel issues;
- Think Big and look around corners to spot issues and identify developments of relevance for the Amazon business.
A day in the life
You will represent Amazon in cross-border disputes and coordinate with business lawyers across many European jurisdictions and legal areas (e.g. competition, privacy, consumer). You will effectively manage diverse, senior and international outside counsel teams on a variety of novel legal issues and proceedings.
Your day includes advising senior business and legal leadership in the EU and US on a broad range of strategic matters and developing long-term dispute resolution strategies. You will work closely with business leaders across all Amazon businesses to assess practical risks and guide decision-making. You will think strategically about emerging legal trends, manage multiple mission-critical projects simultaneously. Your role requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills to translate complex legal issues into clear guidance for executives.
As a member of the EU Litigation team, you will contribute to developing mechanisms for training, knowledge sharing, and cross-functional coordination and will deploy your AI skills to drive efficiency of processes and improve quality of our service and work products.
- Experience in complex domestic and international business litigation, including trial experience and counseling parties and witnesses in pre-dispute and dispute resolution or equivalent context
- Fully qualified lawyer with outstanding academic and legal qualifications;
- A minimum of 8+ years post-qualification experience, with 3+ years at a highly regarded law firm;
- Broad experience in domestic and international business litigation, including trial experience and drafting of complex briefs;
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams;
- Sound and practical business judgment;
- Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity.
- Experience working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization or equivalent
- Experience in handling class actions or similar mass claims in EU jurisdictions;
- Innovative, progressive, hands-on and customer-obsessed professional. Proactive and fast-moving to complete projects in a timely fashion;
- A team player and consensus builder with great people skills who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with attorneys and business clients at all levels throughout the organisation.
