Job Description

Provides a range of general legal advice and services including in the fields of confidential information, privacy, intellectual property and licensing, commercial contracts and compliance | Appoint and manage external advisors for specialist legal advice | Initiate and manage the defence of legal proceedings | Responsibilities are as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines. PROFESSIONAL CAREER BAND: Work is primarily achieved by an individual or through project teams, with emphasis on technical/discipline knowledge rather than managing people. Requires the application of expertise in professional area(s) to achieve results. May have limited direct reports, but spends the majority of their time on their personal contributions to work. Progression within the Career Band reflects increasing depth of professional knowledge, project management and ability to influence others. Entry-level jobs within the Professional Career Band typically require a university degree or equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and practices. PROFESSIONAL LEVEL F: Recognised as an expert in own area within the organisation, with specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own discipline or function. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions, develops best practices. May lead functional teams or projects, and may have responsibility for performance review, salary suggestions and recruitment, but spends the majority of their time on their personal contributions to work. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. PROFESSIONAL SUB-LEVEL F1: Guides others in resolving complex issues in specialized area based on existing solutions and procedures. Serves as an expert within own discipline. May lead function teams or projects and serves as a best practices/quality resource. Trains / mentors junior staff.
