We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel to lead the legal function for a fast-growing, innovative technology company. This role offers the unique opportunity to provide strategic, business-oriented legal guidance across commercial, product, corporate, and people matters. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, helping drive product development while mitigating risk, shaping governance frameworks, and enabling rapid business growth. Accountabilities:
- Leading the legal function across commercial agreements, product counsel, corporate governance, and employment matters.
- Drafting, negotiating, and managing partner agreements, customer contracts, vendor agreements, and data protection agreements (DPAs).
- Partnering with Product and Engineering teams to provide risk-calibrated legal guidance on new features, product lines, and international expansion.
- Managing corporate governance, equity matters, and board-related legal work.
- Advising on regulatory and compliance matters, including emerging crypto regulations and privacy obligations.
- Building and maintaining legal infrastructure, including contract templates, playbooks, and self-serve resources.
- Managing relationships with external counsel for specialized legal matters such as IP, litigation, or regulatory issues.
- Proactively surfacing legal risks, enabling teams to move quickly while staying compliant.
- 7–10 years of post-law school legal experience, including a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
- Strong commercial drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to create contracts from scratch.
- Experience serving as product counsel, advising Product and Engineering teams.
- Ability to provide risk-calibrated guidance that enables business and product development.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguous or evolving regulatory environments.
- Demonstrated ability to drive high-impact legal outcomes in a fast-growing technology company.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice.
- Self-starter who thrives with autonomy and can operate effectively in a distributed team environment.
- Background at a top-tier law firm (e.g., Goodwin, Cooley, Wilson Sonsini, Latham).
- Experience at a crypto, fintech, or high-growth technology company.
- Familiarity with the crypto regulatory landscape (SEC, FinCEN, state regulations, MiCA).
- Knowledge of data privacy frameworks such as GDPR or CCPA.
- Starting salary between $201,000 – $236,000 USD (location-independent).
