SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL

Kinrise is a proudly Australian, values-led FMCG business with a diverse portfolio of iconic brands. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal & Corporate Affairs function and act as a trusted advisor across the business.
 

The Opportunity
 

Reporting directly to the General Manager, Legal & Corporate Affairs, this role is a senior individual contributor position providing hands-on, pragmatic legal advice across Kinrise and its operating businesses. You will play a key role in enabling commercial outcomes while effectively managing legal risk across a broad range of practice areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced in-house lawyer who enjoys autonomy, variety, and working closely with stakeholders in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities
 

Commercial & Corporate Legal Support

• Provide timely, solution-focused legal advice across commercial, corporate, compliance, employment and dispute matters.
• Lead the review, drafting, negotiation and execution of a high volume of commercial contracts including supply, manufacturing, procurement, warehousing, distribution, licensing, NDAs and customer trading terms.
• Lead Sales and Procurement WIPs to manage a large commercial contract portfolio autonomously.

Risk, Compliance & Governance

• Support and help drive the Kinrise Good Business Compliance Framework, including development and delivery of legal training or compliance initiatives and tools across key risk areas.
• Act as Kinrise Privacy Officer, overseeing compliance with Australian Privacy Laws and internal policies.
• Research and advise on legislative and regulatory changes impacting FMCG, manufacturing, food safety, marketing and consumer law.

Marketing, IP & Consumer Law

• Advise Marketing onConsumer Law and Marketing & Trade Promotions.
• Key member of the Kinrise Marketing Approvals Committee (K-MAC) packaging artwork approval processes.
• Support the GM in managing Kinrise’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyright andlicensing.

Stakeholder & Systems Management

• Manage relationships with external legal service providers and systems, including LawVu and SALT.
• Support crisis management forums and represent Legal in business-wide risk discussions.
• Deliver legal onboarding sessions for new starters to embed legal awareness and compliance.

About You

You are a confident, commercially minded senior lawyer who enjoys working autonomously and partnering closely with the business.

You will bring:

• Australian legal qualification.
• Substantial senior legal experience, ideally in-house, with FMCG experience highly regarded.
• Proven excellence in commercial contract drafting, negotiation and risk management.
• Broad generalist legal advisory capability across employment, privacy, consumer and regulatory matters.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior levels.
• A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Resilience, flexibility and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
