Senior Legal Counsel, Corporate Transactions (M&A Focus)

An established Australian services group with a national footprint is entering its next phase of growth, supported by a sophisticated shareholder base and an active acquisition strategy.

As part of this growth, the business is strengthening its in\-house legal capability and is now seeking a senior lawyer with deep corporate M&A expertise to support transactions across the group.
<\/span><\/span><\/p>

This rare in\-house transactional role is ideal for a Senior Associate–level M&A lawyer looking to move in\-house (or an existing in\-house lawyer who still loves transactions) and remain hands\-on in complex deal work.

The Role<\/b>
<\/span><\/span><\/p>

<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Reporting to the General Counsel and working closely with the COO and senior executives, you will play a key role in delivering the group’s acquisition strategy. You will:
<\/span><\/span><\/p>

<\/span><\/span><\/p>

• Support and run M&A transactions end\-to\-end, from early structuring through to completion and integration
  <\/li>
• Conduct and coordinate legal due diligence and manage transaction documentation
  <\/li>
• Work closely with external advisers on complex matters, while retaining strong in\-house ownership
  <\/li>
• Partner with senior commercial stakeholders to provide clear, pragmatic advice
  <\/li>
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of transaction processes, templates and playbooks
  <\/li>
• Be actively involved in a fast\-paced, deal\-driven environment with regular transaction flow
  <\/li> <\/ul>

  About You<\/b>
  <\/span><\/span><\/p>

  You are a corporate \/ M&A lawyer who:
  <\/span><\/span><\/p>

  • Has strong M&A experience gained in private practice and ideally, together with in\-house
    <\/li>
  • Is likely operating at Senior Associate or equivalent level
    <\/li>
  • Enjoys being close to transactions and taking responsibility for execution
    <\/li>
  • Is commercially minded, practical and comfortable working at pace
    <\/li>
  • Values collaboration and clear communication over formality
    <\/li> <\/ul>

    Industry experience is not essential — transactional strength and judgement are what matter most.
