Experience/Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a transactional attorney, with “first chair” experience on significant, large-scale timber or other similar real estate transactions and other significant experience in one or more of the areas of job responsibility
  • Prior work in-house desired but not required

About the position:

The position is on the Timberlands, Strategic Land Solutions and Corporate Development legal team. We are a group of 23 attorneys, paralegals, transaction specialists, and land title technicians. We work together to support the complete needs of the various businesses and collaborate on new and emerging focus areas as these businesses grow and evolve.  We really love the work that we do, and we’re excited to welcome our new team members soon!

What We Offer:

Compensation\: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $157,600 - $236,500 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 25% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement\: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our contribution equal to 5% of your eligible pay

Paid Time Off or Vacation\: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.

Areas of practice emphasis include:

  • Provide legal support for Weyerhaeuser’s Strategic Legal Solutions and Corporate Development business teams in connection with all manner of real estate transactions, including large scale timberland acquisitions and divestitures, development projects, carbon projects, mitigation banking agreements, and other related transactions. 
  • Participate on business leadership teams and advise businesses on issues that arise across a nearly 11-million-acre land base – e.g., title, access, boundaries, trespass, leasing, licensing, easements.
  • Provide legal support for Weyerhaeuser’s renewable energy business team in connection with the negotiation of wind & solar energy projects throughout the United States.
  • Support leasing and other transactions for energy, mineral, and other projects, including oil and gas, geothermal, recreation, and communication sites.
    Assist with the growth of Weyerhaeuser’s natural climate solutions business, including carbon transactions and other conservation arrangements.
