About the role

Coalition is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Cyber Claims Counsel (M/W) - Responsable sinistres cyber (H/F), with strong expertise in insurance and cyber incident coverage, to join its fast-moving and growing international team.

The Claims team at Coalition stands out for its outstanding customer service and deep expertise in handling cyber claims for its insureds. As a team, we focus on partnering with our clients to resolve cyber incidents quickly and find practical, business-focused solutions to cyber risk. 

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Claims professional to join our cyber claims team, with responsibility for handling complex Cyber policies. You will also support the underwriting team and coordinate with a range of external partners,  including breach counsel, defense counsel, and coverage counsel, on behalf of Coalition and its partner carrier, Allianz.

The role is fully remote within metropolitan France.

Responsibilities

  • Handle the intake of cyber incidents, including the coordination of breach counsel, forensic investigators and other external partners
  • Evaluate the full portfolio of claims in France
  • Ensure timely posting and recommend appropriate and accurate reserves in line with Coalition and partner carrier guidelines
  • Handle complex and litigated claims, including third party liability arising from security failures or data breaches
  • Maintain accurate file documentation/information in our claims system
  • Assess liability, quantum and coverage on claims, and clearly document your analysis, strategy and decisions in our claims system
  • Intelligently guide and monitor third-party service providers, including quality of work, strategy and spend
  • Maintain and develop relationships with brokers, insured stakeholders and key partners in the French market
  • Identify and pursue settlement opportunities that achieve effective outcomes
  • Work closely with counsel and other stakeholders to coordinate defense strategy and drive timely resolution of claims
  • Provide data and insights to underwriters
  • Support business development by contributing to marketing, client presentations and sales discussions
  • Liaise with partner carriers
  • Lead client engagement activities, including cyber incident preparedness and tabletop exercises, whether delivered directly by Coalition or our partners
  • Ensure the global claims team is aware of specific claims handling requirements and market practices in France as well as other EEA countries, as Coalition expands its geographical footprint.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience handling cyber claims and litigation. Preferred background in:
    • Handling wider financial lines claims, including D&O, E&O
    • Handling European cyber incidents
  • Education: 
    • Bachelor’s Degree (Bac + 3) or equivalent work experience.
    • A university diploma in Insurance Law or Insurance Management is preferred but not mandatory (Bac +4 / Bac +5 or equivalent)

Language skills: Fluent in French & English is required

  • Team work: 
    • Demonstrated experience to work as part of a team, interact with others, meet goals, and successfully perform in a fast-paced and changing work environment
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to provide interactive experience with clients, colleagues and stakeholders
    • Team-oriented with aptitude to excel in a collegial environment but also able to work proactively and independently
  • Bonus:  
    • Additional language skills in Italian and/or Spanish
    • Prior experience handling claims for the Spanish and/or Italian market
