We are excited to announce an exceptional opportunity to join Simple as our very first Head of Legal. This pivotal role is designed for a strategic and hands-on legal expert who will act as a key partner to our business, driving day-to-day legal operations, shaping our legal strategy, and corporate governance questions.
Establish and lead the legal function within the company with a focus on lean and scalable legal and compliance operations.
Provide high-quality legal support tailored for a fast-growing, Series B startup.
Design and implement data protection governance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions, including GDPR and key U.S. state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA), and establish scalable compliance processes for high-growth technology companies.
Address and manage all legal matters related to intellectual property, brand protection, and contract management.
Manage and oversee key corporate transactions, including equity and debt financing, and fundraising initiatives, and manage associated corporate governance matters, including cap table management, shareholder documentation, corporate secretarial processes, and board and shareholder approvals.
Identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks related to consumer-facing wellness and fitness mobile products, including risks arising from product claims, health and wellbeing representations, subscription models, digital consumer protection laws, regulatory scrutiny, and consumer class actions.
Lead the implementation of legal compliance and risk management strategies, policies, and processes.
Provide expert legal advice on international business matters, coordinating efforts between internal teams and external legal consultants.
Minimum 10+ years of post-qualified experience
Experience in the consumer mobile applications industry, preferably within the healthtech or digital wellness sector, with a strong understanding of regulatory and legal risks in data-driven consumer platforms
Proven experience in corporate governance and commercial, ideally within a technology or startup setting.
Proven ability both to execute complicated one-off legal tasks and maintain efficient routine legal workflow
Proven track record of at least 3 years of the managerial experience
Strong knowledge of laws and regulations across European and US markets affecting such businesses as Simple
Experience in setting up effective and lean legal operations, including the adoption of relevant work management and legal tooling.
Fluency in English (both spoken and written).
