A leading independent Corporate Advisory and JSE Sponsor firm, based in Sandton, is seeking a highly driven and detail-oriented Junior Attorney to join its internal business support team.

 

This is a unique group-level legal and compliance role, supporting multiple subsidiaries across Corporate Advisory, Construction & Civils, and Consulting Engineering, each with their own regulatory and compliance nuances.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, including direct support to the CEO, and will play a key role in managing contracts, legal risk, compliance obligations, and governance frameworks across the group.

 

This opportunity is ideally suited to a qualified attorney with 2–5 years’ post-articles experience, who has exposure to commercial/contract law and compliance, and who thrives in a highly structured, methodical, and professional environment.

 

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end contract management, legal advisory support, and compliance oversight across the group.

The role requires a hands-on legal professional with strong commercial and contract law experience, capable of producing accurate, high-quality legal work while maintaining robust governance and compliance standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Legal Advisory & Contract Management

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including:
    • Employment contracts
    • Property and lease agreements
    • Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
    • Supplier and vendor agreements
  • Maintain and manage the contract register and full contract lifecycle, including drafting, execution, renewals, and terminations
  • Provide legal input on commercial transactions and business agreements
  • Ensure contractual arrangements align with legal, regulatory, and commercial requirements

Compliance & Governance

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of legal and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards and internal policies
  • Assist with risk identification, mitigation, and compliance reporting
  • Maintain compliance registers and monitor regulatory obligations
  • Assist with internal policy drafting, review, and updates

Legal Risk & Advisory Support

  • Identify and mitigate legal and contractual risks across the group
  • Provide practical legal advice to internal stakeholders
  • Support dispute resolution matters and liaise with external legal counsel when required
  • Assist with due diligence processes and legal documentation reviews

Executive & Business Support

  • Provide direct legal support to the CEO and senior management team
  • Assist with strategic legal matters and key business initiatives
  • Ensure legal documentation, processes, and records remain compliant, accurate, and audit-ready

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • LLB Degree (Essential)
  • Admitted Attorney (Non-Negotiable)

Experience

  • 2–5 years’ post-articles experience
  • Experience in commercial law and/or contract law (including exposure gained during articles)
  • Exposure to compliance, corporate governance, or regulatory environments
  • Strong experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and legal documentation
