The Lawyer/Legal Counsel is a highly experienced legal professional supporting the German and Global Legal Department with advanced contract work, legal operations, compliance oversight, and coordination of complex legal workflows. This role serves as a key partner to company lawyers and business stakeholders, providing subject-matter expertise in global legal projects, German and EU commercial law, data protection, technology/IT law, and internal governance.
The Lawyer/Legal Counsel l independently manages high-volume and high-complexity legal tasks, oversees critical documentation processes, provides quality control for legal documentation, and supports cross-functional legal initiatives. The position requires strong analytical capability, excellent judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and a solid grounding in legal principles.
Independently drafting, reviewing, and negotiating standard and moderately complex commercial agreements (NDAs, SaaS agreements, DPAs, service agreements, partnership agreements, procurement agreements).
Acting as first point of escalation for contract issues raised by business teams.
Organizing legal team workflows, status meetings, and tracking follow-ups on action items.
Ensuring strict confidentiality, secure handling of personal data, and GDPR‑compliant work practices.
Managing the contract repository, legal archives, and legal operations tools (eSignature, CLM systems, compliance platforms).
Completed law degree (Volljurist / German state examination) or comparable legal qualification.
3 - 5 years of relevant experience in a German law firm or corporate legal department, ideally with exposure to tech/SaaS, commercial law, or data protection.
Strong understanding of German contract law (BGB), commercial law (HGB), data protection (DSGVO), and foundational IT/technology law.
Hands-on experience with contract lifecycle management tools or legal operations systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and strong proficiency in English.
Additional Requirements
Occasional travel within Germany.
Ability to prioritize effectively under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
Familiarity with German employment and data protection obligations is advantageous.
