Are you an experienced legal professional who enjoys variety, working closely with the business, and making a real impact? Join us at Enable, where you can apply your legal expertise to support outcomes that make a difference for our customers and community.

Part-time by design, flexible by default. We know great lawyers often want something that works around life – whether that’s how your days are structured or when you work – so we’re open to discussing what that looks like for you, (around 25-30 hours) while still delivering the outcomes the role needs.

Who are we?

Enable is the fibre broadband network provider for greater Ōtautahi. We connect more than fibre broadband – we connect people and communities. We are committed to helping make Christchurch a better place for our community to live, work and do business. We strive to be customer-led, understanding the unique needs of our customers and wider community, and working together to deliver experiences that delight and build trust.

As a Certified B Corporation™, we’re committed to being a force for good. This means our team is dedicated to making a positive impact on our community and the environment, ensuring that our growth and success benefit everyone.

The role

As Legal Counsel, you’ll play an important role in providing practical, easytounderstand legal advice across the business. Reporting to our Chief Legal & Regulatory Officer and working closely with a small, collaborative team, you’ll be involved in a broad range of legal matters and partner with stakeholders to support sound decisionmaking.

This role offers variety and flexibility, with the opportunity to work across property, contracts and public law, while contributing to continuous improvement of legal processes and ways of working.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide legal advice on property matters, including complex easements, land access rights and related queries
  • Draft, review and advise on a range of contracts, including operational and marketing agreements
  • Support compliance with public law and legislative requirements, including privacy and official information laws
  • Contribute to process improvements, particularly across land access and insurance-related activities.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to provide clear, pragmatic advice
  • Manage priorities effectively in a dynamic environment where work and the demands of the business can shift quickly

A little more about you

  • Admitted to practise law in New Zealand (essential)
  • At least 2+ years PQE
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts in a way that's easy to understand
  • Highly organised, with strong prioritisation and time management skills
  • A collaborative approach, with the confidence to build relationships and influence outcomes
  • A self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously and managing their own workload
  • Experience across a range of legal areas is valued, though in-house experience isn't essential
