Job Description: Legal Counsel is a key leader in Saskatchewan health care, partnering with system leaders to achieve our province’s healthcare goals. Reporting to the Chief Legal Counsel, Legal Counsel is responsible for providing legal support, guidance and direction to the Saskatchewan Health Authority. Legal support will be provided primarily for delivery of health services, accreditation, legislative and regulatory compliance, privacy and access to information, Practitioner Staff Affairs and risk management matters in the form of negotiating, drafting legal documents, representing the SHA in disputes, advising and training regarding statute, case law and contract interpretation. The incumbent represents the Saskatchewan Health Authority in negotiations, ADR including mediations/arbitrations and matters before courts and administrative tribunals.

  • Experience in diverse areas of health law and public health regulation
  • Experience in privacy and access to information
  • Experience in civil and administrative litigation
  • Experience in medical professional practice regulation

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD)

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
