The purpose of Risk & Legal is to help our business partners succeed via valued risk and compliance advice, whilst safeguarding UniSuper through effective controls assurance and oversight.

The role


The key focus of this role is applying legal expertise to advise and support UniSuper’s investment activities across listed and unlisted asset classes. You will deliver practical, commercially sound legal advice while contributing to strong relationships across Investments, Risk and Legal.

  • Apply legal expertise to assist with investment management agreements, including drafting, negotiation, due diligence and ongoing compliance
  • Advise on legal documentation for listed securities, trading, broker and research‑related agreements
  • Contribute legal advice across unlisted investments, including structuring, documentation and settlement
  • Review investment‑related marketing and disclosure materials
  • Support ESG initiatives by advising on relevant legal considerations
  • Contribute to regulatory compliance, dispute resolution and engagement with regulators as required

 

About you


You enjoy solving complex legal issues in a fast‑paced, commercial environment and take pride in delivering high‑quality, practical outcomes. You apply sound judgement, work collaboratively with stakeholders and manage competing priorities with confidence.

  • Legal qualifications with a current practising certificate
  • 2–4 years post‑qualification experience (or equivalent) in a law firm or relevant financial services environment
  • Experience advising on, or exposure to, investment or financial services matters
  • Ability to analyse issues and recommend pragmatic legal solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort working autonomously while keeping colleagues informed on key legal issues
