Legal Counsel (f/m/d) Focus: Energy Law (1 year limited, part-/full-time)

Your tasks

As Legal Counsel, you will join a team of 15 dedicated lawyers supporting EEX Group’s registry business and related activities. This position is offered as a one-year parental leave replacement and provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic and international environment at the intersection of law, energy markets, and sustainability. In this role, your primary focus will be on French law, particularly (renewable) energy law in the European context, with a strong emphasis on the legal framework of registries for energy related certificates such as Guarantees of Origin (GoO). You will provide legal advice to our registry business and corporate bodies, ensuring compliance with French and European laws and regulations. You will support the business units in their correspondence with competent authorities as well as their discussions within the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB). Your responsibilities will include monitoring legal and regulatory developments in France and at the European and international level – such as the French Energy Code, AIB standards, and other relevant energy regulations. You will contribute to consultations, implementation projects and public procurement procedures. You will assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents in French and English and support strategic initiatives related to registry operations. Working languages will be English and French. This position offers the opportunity to build and/or deepen your knowledge of renewable energy law and its interaction with European energy market structures. You bring along

• Completed master’s degree in law (fully qualified lawyer, CAPA, or comparable is a plus)
• Initial experience or strong interest in French energy and renewable energy law as well as the European regulatory frameworks
• Willingness to deepen your knowledge in these and other fields of law
• Ability to draft and review legal documents in French and English
• Interest in and commitment to professional development and participation in training
• Independent, open-minded, precise, and solution-oriented way of working within a team and across departments
• Full professional proficiency in French and English; German is a plus
