A global giant in the construction industry is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join its Australian in\-house legal team.
<\/p>

This is a genuinely interesting role for a lawyer who enjoys working close to the business, supporting complex engineering, infrastructure and advisory projects, and providing practical legal advice in a fast\-moving, technical environment.

The Opportunity<\/b>
<\/p>

Youâll partner closely with commercial and technical stakeholders, advising on front\-end legal and commercial issues, helping manage risk, and enabling projects to progress efficiently. The role offers a strong mix of contracting, advisory and issue management, with exposure to a wide range of internal teams and projects.

What Youâll Be Doing<\/b>
<\/p>

Advising the business on legal and commercial matters in a practical, solutions\-focused way
<\/li>
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating engineering services contracts, standard form agreements, subcontracts and related documentation
<\/li>
Translating legal risk into clear, commercially relevant advice for non\-legal stakeholders
<\/li>
Supporting regulatory compliance and monitoring relevant legislative developments
<\/li>
Assisting with dispute and issue management, including insurance matters, subpoenas and FOI requests
<\/li>
Working with senior legal colleagues on more complex matters
<\/li>
Contributing to internal training, templates and continuous improvement initiatives
<\/li> <\/ul>

About You<\/b>
<\/p>
This role will suit a lawyer who brings:
<\/p>

Around 5â8 yearsâ PQE, gained in\-house and\/or private practice
<\/li>
Experience in engineering, construction or infrastructure law
<\/li>
Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
<\/li>
A commercial, business\-focused mindset and sound judgement
<\/li>
Confidence working autonomously while knowing when to escalate
<\/li>
A collaborative approach and interest in working within a large, matrixed organisation
<\/li> <\/ul>
