The role:
We are seeking a diligent and knowledgeable In-House Lawyer (part-time or full-time) to handle a broad range of legal matters and support our dynamic start-up environment. This role involves reviewing and drafting client contracts, managing legal documentation, liaising with external providers, and providing general legal counsel. Any experience as a Data Protection Officer (DPO) is highly desirable.
This is what you will do:
Contract Review and Management:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, partners, and vendors
Ensure all contractual agreements are compliant with relevant laws and regulations
Maintain a database of all contractual documentation
Legal Documentation:
Draft and review internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal standards
Provide guidance on legal documentation related to business operations, including terms of service, SLAs, privacy policies, and other legal notices
General Legal Counsel:
Advise on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management
Assist with the resolution of legal disputes and provide strategic legal advice
Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations that could impact the business
Data Protection and Artificial Intelligence:
Understand and interpret the company’s data protection strategy and implementation to ensure compliance with GDPR and other relevant regulations, working closely with external DPO
Act as the main internal point of contact for data protection queries and issues
Develop, implement and maintain AI governance frameworks, policies and risk management processes, including AI system classification, risk assessments, treatment oversight, compliance monitoring and governance reporting
Monitor evolving AI laws, regulations and best practices, providing strategic advice and acting as the central point of contact for AI governance, compliance queries and escalation pathways
This is you:
Law degree or equivalent legal qualification
Licensed to practice law in Spain
High level of English (spoken and written)
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a legal role, either in a law firm or in-house.
Excellent understanding of corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
High ethical standards and professional integrity
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Solution-oriented and capable of translating complex legal language for non-legal profiles
We will be further impressed if you have:
Proven experience as a Data Protection Officer (DPO) or at least willingness to undertake training in this area
Experience working in a start-up or fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with intellectual property law or tax law
