About the role - Mō te turanga mahi
Are you an ambitious 4-year PQE lawyer who wants to be part of a high performing and collaborative team? Do you have a good and workable knowledge of the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 (FMCA) and the Financial Markets Conduct Regulations 2014 (FMCR)? If so, then this could be the role for you.
The role sits within the Legal, Governance & People Team. The Legal & Governance part of the team is responsible for providing legal and governance services to the AMP Wealth Management and AMP Services New Zealand business. The role itself will provide strategic and pragmatic legal advice on a range of business issues, projects and products – but specifically in relation to wealth management, financial advice and adherence to the FMCA and FMCR.
This role also offers the opportunity to drive your knowledge and development in a group that strives to nurture all members of the team.
What you’ll need to succeed - Ngā wahanga matua o te turanga
- A New Zealand law society practicing certificate or be entitled to hold one.
- Preferably 4 to 5 years PQE working in a top tier law firm or in house in the financial services industry.
- At least three years’ experience in wealth management, financial services and/or financial services law with a good understanding of the FMCA and FMCR, including drafting and reviewing PDSs and advising on regulated financial advice,
- Specific experience of working with KiwiSaver and managed investment schemes in a licensed environment.
- Experience of corporate governance including company secretarial duties, drafting committee and board papers.
- Practical experience in generalist areas of legal practice including, commercial contracts including contract drafting, marketing, brand campaigns, climate related issues, M&A, IT and digital, and privacy, is beneficial.
- Demonstratable legal thinking, knowledge and drafting.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to keep inquiring and learning under pressure or in situations with ambiguity.
- Self-motivation to keep pushing hard issues and complex initiatives.
- Able to balance commercial and legal judgment and business risk to provide best business options.
- Desire to learn, improve systems and embrace change.
