Introduction

We are looking for a Supervisor Specialist Legal Counsel who will be reporting directly to the Manager: Group Legal Counsel.

You be expected to assist the Manager: Group Legal Counsel with and advise on all legal matters related to the Clientèle Group of Companies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Providing legal advice and writing opinions on financial services related legislation including (but not limited to) the FAIS Act, Long-term Insurance Act, Short-term Insurance Act, Companies Act, Insurance Act, Companies Act Consumer Protection Act, POPIA etc;
  • Acting as a business partner by applying combined business and legal judgment to proposed deals, relationships and other issues requiring legal attention or guidance;
  • Drafting, reviewing and supporting negotiation on a range of commercial contracts including (but not limited to) service level agreements, memorandums of understanding, outsource agreements, loan agreements, binder agreements, intermediary agreements, settlement agreements, shareholders agreements, sale of shares agreements, employment agreements etc;
  • Providing hands on legal advice to the business on legal and regulatory matters;
  • Liaise with external counsel and legal representatives on matters which require external legal assistance;
  • Advising on, and assisting with, matters related to the Company Secretarial department; and
  • Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Manager: Group Legal Counsel

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • LLB or BCom Law;
  • Admission as an Attorney or Advocate to the High Court;
  • 3-5 years Post Qualification Experience (PQE) / Admission, in Financial Services (Insurance related experience will be advantageous)
  • High-level of proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Analytical ability;
