What You Will Be Doing

  • Handle both litigation and non-litigation employment law matters
  • Collaborate with partners on case strategy and execution
  • Manage single-plaintiff and complex class/collective action cases
  • Lead defense-side litigation efforts, including:
    • Discovery strategy and execution
    • Taking and defending depositions (including plaintiffs)
    • Drafting motions (including dispositive motions)
    • Court appearances
  • Work with and manage expert witnesses
  • Engage in settlement negotiations, mediation, and conferences
  • Prepare cases for trial and arbitration
  • Independently manage full lifecycle of litigation, including:
    • Opposing class certification
    • Motion practice
    • Trial preparation and management

Experience You Will Need

  • 8+ years of employment/labor litigation experience (California)
  • Strong preference for management-side (defense) experience
  • Proven experience handling:
    • Class actions / PAGA matters (preferred)
    • Complex litigation from start to finish
  • Ability to independently manage cases with minimal supervision
  • Strong exposure to:
    • Discovery
    • Depositions
    • Motion practice
    • Trial preparation
  • Excellent:
    • Writing skills
    • Analytical thinking
    • Client interaction / people skills
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative yet autonomous environment

Skill Matrix

Must-Have

  • 8+ years employment litigation experience (California)
  • Licensed and in good standing with California Bar
  • Strong litigation skills (discovery, motions, depositions, trial prep)
  • Experience managing cases independently
  • Excellent legal writing and analytical skills

Nice-to-Have

  • Class action / PAGA litigation experience
  • Management-side (employer defense) background
  • Experience working with expert witnesses
  • Bilingual capabilities

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD)
  • Active license to practice law in California (required)
  • Must maintain ongoing licensure compliance
