We are looking for a Senior IP Counsel to lead and scale a global intellectual property program spanning trademarks, patents, copyrights, trade secrets, and domains. This is a high-impact, strategic role that combines hands-on IP expertise with portfolio development and cross-functional collaboration.
The role is based in Dubai (relocation is supported by the company).
Responsibilities
IP Portfolio Strategy:
- Define and execute the annual IP filing and renewal roadmap by jurisdiction, class, and budget
- Continuously audit the IP portfolio to identify gaps and opportunities for defensive or offensive filings
Clearance and Prosecution:
- Lead knockout/full trademark searches, issue legal opinions, and make go/no-go filing decisions
- Manage external counsel for national filings; handle examiner actions, renewals, and recordals
- Achieve a ≥90% registration success rate across global applications
Enforcement and Dispute Resolution:
- Oversee oppositions, cancellations, UDRP/URS cases, customs seizures, and litigation strategy
- Lead negotiations and manage multi-jurisdictional enforcement with external counsel
- Report ROI and cost-benefit metrics for every enforcement action
Commercial and Legal Support:
- Draft and negotiate IP clauses in licensing, distribution, M&A, and technology agreements
- Advise internal teams (Marketing, Product, R&D, HR) on correct IP usage and compliance
Digital Brand Protection:
- Supervise domain, app store, ad, social media, and code repository monitoring
- Approve rapid takedown actions via registrars, Netcraft, Cloudflare, Google TCRP, etc.
Governance and Reporting:
- Maintain an audit-ready IP docket and real-time IP risk dashboard
- Deliver weekly updates to GC and quarterly IP heat maps to the Board
Team Leadership & Optimization:
- Mentor enforcement specialists and paralegals; establish SOPs and playbooks
- Drive continuous improvement in prosecution/enforcement cycle times and cost efficiency
Requirements
- LL.B./JD degree with an active legal license in at least one jurisdiction (EU member state, UK, Turkey, Egypt, or Europe)
- 5+ years of direct experience managing global IP matters, including trademark prosecution and disputes
- Demonstrated wins in UDRP/URS cases, oppositions, and multi-jurisdictional litigations or settlements
- Solid contract-drafting experience in licensing, M&A, and tech-related transactions
- Fluency in English; knowledge of an additional Asian or EU language is a plus
- Skilled in using Corsearch, MarkMonitor, Red Points, and spreadsheet tools (Excel/Google Sheets)
- Decisive under time pressure and able to act on limited data
- Strong writing and negotiation skills with a persuasive, structured communication style
