Join MUJI Australia in a senior in-house legal role with reporting directly to the Managing Director.

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Legal Counsel to provide practical legal advice across our Australian retail business.

The Role

You will:

• Provide pragmatic legal advice that balances risk, commercial objectives and business opportunities
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts
• Advise on retail leasing, property and operational matters
• Support employment and workplace relations matters
• Advise on Australian Consumer Law, regulatory and compliance requirements
• Manage governance, legal risk and compliance frameworks
• Oversee disputes, claims and external legal counsel
• Support new business initiatives, technology and AI governance

About You

• Australian-qualified lawyer with 7+ years' experience
• Strong commercial and contract law experience
• In-house experience highly regarded
• Retail experience advantageous
• Knowledge of employment law, consumer law, governance and compliance
• Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills
• Confident working with senior stakeholders
• Able to provide clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice
• Comfortable operating autonomously in a broad senior legal role
