About The Role… In this role, you’ll partner closely with the Chief Legal Officer, General Manager – Group Legal, fellow Senior Legal Counsel and Legal Counsel to provide practical, solutions‑focused legal advice across a wide variety of commercial, consumer & regulatory legal matters. You’ll play a key role in enabling major projects, supporting strategic decision‑making and shaping the organisation’s legal risk approach—while mentoring and developing more junior lawyers in the team. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Deliver Practical, High‑Impact Legal Advice - Provide clear, commercially focused legal guidance across a broad range of commercial, consumer & regulatory legal matters.
  • Lead Complex Commercial & Procurement Matters - Manage work across procurement, contracts, marketing, supply chain, competition and consumer law, privacy and IP.
  • Draft & Negotiate with Confidence - Prepare, review and negotiate commercial agreements using modern, effective drafting techniques.
  • Influence Stakeholders & Manage Risk - Shape commercial outcomes by advising stakeholders on key contractual risks and terms.
  • Resolve Disputes & Strengthen Legal Frameworks - Lead negotiations, manage disputes and litigation, and enhance legal precedents, policies and playbooks.
  • Build Capability & Strong Partnerships - Mentor Legal Counsel and collaborate effectively across brands and functions including Procurement, Finance, Audit and Customer teams. 

What You’ll Bring

  • Experienced Commercial Lawyer - Minimum 8 + years PQE in general commercial and consumer law.
  • Strong Commercial & Industry Insight - Background in mid–large tier firms, with retail or FMCG experience highly regarded.
  • Advanced Legal & Technical Expertise - Deep knowledge of contract negotiation, consumer law, IP, and regulatory matters.
  • Skilled Multitasker & Problem Solver - Thrives in fast‑paced environments with strong analytical, decision‑making and prioritisation skills.
  • Influential Communicator & Team Player - Exceptional communication, stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with a proactive, solutions‑focused, team‑first mindset. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) with strong academic credentials
  • Unsupervised Practising Certificate (or eligible for unsupervised) in an Australian jurisdiction
