Solicitor | Rōia (L1) - Tax Counsel Office | Te Tari Tohutohu Tāke
 

Are you a Solicitor | Rōia with one or two years’ experience, ideally in tax?  We invite you to apply for a permanent opportunity in the Tax Counsel Office | Te Tari Tohutohu Tāke at Inland Revenue | Te Tari Taake.

 

The Opportunity | Ara Whiwhi Mahi 

 

The Tax Counsel Office | Te Tari Tohutohu Tāke is responsible for providing tax technical advice, specifically about the interpretation and application of taxation laws.  We supply a range of related advice and services to both internal and external customers. 

As a member of our Tax Counsel Office | Te Tari Tohutohu Tāke team, you will:

  • Work in a team environment to interpret and decide on complex and emerging tax technical issues that often have strategic significance to support the right outcomes for our customers, Inland Revenue | Te Tari Taake and the government.
  • Work on a range of technical projects including adjudications (disputes), binding rulings and public guidance.
  • Work across Inland Revenue | Te Tari Taake in a networked way to inform and enable quality decision making, ensuring any broader system-wide impacts are anticipated and managed.
  • Engage well with our internal and external customers and stakeholders, committed to the provision of excellent customer service.

 

About you | Mōu 
 

This is an intellectually challenging role, focused on complex issues and requiring collaboration with like-minded professionals.  To succeed, you will need:

  • A desire to develop strong tax technical research, analysis, interpretation, and opinion writing skills
  • Developing communication, project management, customer and stakeholder management, and time management skills
  • A proactive approach, openness to feedback, and a willingness to build your capability across a range of tax technical areas
  • A law degree and eligibility to hold a practising certificate
  • One or two years post-qualification experience, preferably in tax
