Introduction

A leading investment group (Oasis Group Holdings) is seeking a highly experienced Tax Commercial Lawyer to join its in-house legal team.

This is a senior legal role focused on complex tax, commercial, and structuring matters across the group’s investment and fiduciary activities.

The role offers exposure to sophisticated legal work involving commercial structuring, trusts, estates, and private client arrangements within a dynamic investment-led organisation.

You will operate as part of an internal legal function, working closely with senior business, finance, and fiduciary stakeholders on high-value and strategically important matters.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide in-house legal advice on tax and commercial structuring matters
  • Advise on trusts, estates, fiduciary structures, and private client arrangements
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements
  • Support structuring of investment-related legal arrangements within the group
  • Provide legal guidance on regulatory and tax considerations impacting business activities
  • Partner with senior internal stakeholders on strategic legal matters
  • Contribute to governance, risk management, and legal frameworks within the organisation

 

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
  • 8–12 years post-articles experience
  • Strong background in tax and commercial law
  • Significant experience in trusts, estates, or private client structuring
  • Training or experience within a top-tier commercial law firm strongly preferred
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and advisory capability
  • Ability to operate confidently in a senior in-house legal environment

 

Advantageous Experience

  • Exposure to complex commercial structuring or cross-border transactions
  • Experience advising high-net-worth individuals or sophisticated corporate clients
  • LLM (Tax) or equivalent postgraduate qualification
